The Surface Pro 4 is a great device, something I’m hoping to write about when I’ve spent more time fiddling with mine, but if you use it in the workplace then the default OneNote App just doesn’t compare to the OneNote Desktop app from the full Office suite.
You can install Office desktop suite but when you tap the top of the Surface Pros pen you’ll be presented with that damned junior OneNote app.
To fix that, just follow my handy little guide.
- Click Start and search for Surface and click on the Surface app. This will let you edit the settings of your Surface.
- Click the pen icon and scroll down.
- Change the single button tap action to Launch a Desktop App. You’ll be prompted to browse for a file. On my Pro I found OneNote in;
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
- Job done. Go impress your friends.
The Surface Pro 4 is the latest iteration of Microsofts Surface line of tablet laptop hybrids. It features Windows 10 Pro and features up to an Intel i7, 16GB of ram and can include a 256GB of SSD storage. It optionally includes a stylus Pen and also a keyboard cover putting it directly up against the Apple iPad Pro.
